Event Media Planning Project – Toronto Art Crawl: 9th Annual Urban Exhibit Market

This group project was done as a requirement for my Strategic Media Planning course as part of the Media Communications program at Humber Polytechnic. It involved developing a multi-platform strategic media plan for the 9th Annual Urban Exhibit Market, hosted by the Toronto Art Crawl.

The event celebrates local creativity and provides artists with a platform to showcase and sell their work. Our team was tasked with creating a cohesive campaign strategy that would expand the event’s visibility, strengthen its community engagement, and attract a younger demographic — particularly student artists and emerging creatives.

Our proposal positioned the Toronto Art Crawl as a launchpad for the next generation of artists, introducing initiatives such as:

  • A college art competition to directly engage students from GTA colleges and universities.

  • A pub crawl installation series featuring student artworks in local venues, merging art and social experience.

  • A social media collaboration campaign with local art content creators to promote featured student works and drive traffic to the Urban Exhibit through digital storytelling and live engagement.

As part of the team, I was responsible for designing the visual mockups and campaign materials for the college art competition and social media initiatives. My role focused on creating cohesive visual assets that aligned with the event’s artistic identity and community-focused values.

Through this project, I gained hands-on experience in strategic campaign planning, creative direction, and multi-channel media coordination, while strengthening my collaborative and project management skills within a team setting. The experience also deepened my understanding of how strategic media planning connects creative concepts, audience engagement, and real-world event promotion into a unified brand strategy.
